Kelly Rowland Can't Be Without Her Bible on Tour
If there's one thing that the former Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland must have with her on tour, it's her Bible, and some Fiji Water.
The R&B singer and songwriter revealed that when she travels around the world performing, she doesn't have a lot of demands, but what she does make sure she has is her Scriptures.
"When I'm on tour the one thing I can't be without is my Bible," Rowland shared, according to Contactmusic.com.
The 31-year-old singer, who began her solo career in 2002, has always been vocal about her faith in God, which she attributes to her success.
"It's been my faith that has gotten me to where I am right now," the "When Love Takes Over" artist previously told radio host Russ Parr. "It's been my faith that has kept me in the game for 15 years when I wanted to give up at certain times."
"It's been my faith that let (sic) me know what an incredible virtuous woman I am and not allowing the rest of the world to tell me who I am or what I am or what I should be doing or who I should be."
As a child, Rowland described herself as being "on fire for God." But as she grew older and became a star, travels and experiences would sometimes get in the way of reading the Bible every day.
"You don't realize that you're taking important things away from yourself," Contactmusic reported Rowland saying. "If all this were taken away from me right now, I would still have my faith. If you don't have faith the world will eat you alive."
The pop singer has to date sold more than 80 million records worldwide, and received several awards for her work as a solo artist and group member in Destiny's Child alongside Michelle Williams and the new proud mother Beyonce Knowles, whom she calls her sister.
While some see Rowland as an inspiration and role model, others find that her lifestyle runs contrary to what she believes in, i.e. posing topless on the cover of Vibe magazine.
"I'm not trying to sell sex," she commented, according to the Daily Mail. "I'm just completely being myself."
Dr. Randy Stinson, senior fellow at the Council of Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, previously told The Christian Post, "I believe that Christian celebrities have a responsibility to be Christ-like in every area of their lives. This is particularly true of how they dress."
"They should be representing Christ in their attitude, in their words, in their actions, and in the way that they clothe themselves."
Kelly Rowland is reportedly working on her fourth solo album now, and is expected to drop a new single this spring.
