'Kemono Friends' Anime News: Premiere Episode Reaches Three Million Views on Nico Nico
The first episode of "Kemono Friends" has hit one of the highest viewership ratings on Nico Nico Douga. This was confirmed on March 13 by director Tatsuki himself, who took to Twitter to thank fans for their continued support for the show.
Produced by YAOYOROZU, "Kemono Friends" positions itself as one of the most widely watched anime series today. In two months' time, this full 3DCG series has been watched more than three million times on Nico Nico Douga, one of the biggest official streaming services for anime series in Japan, alongside U-NEXT, dAnime Store, Gyao and Bandai Channel.
Titled "Savanna Area," the first episode of "Kemono Friends" was posted on Nico Nico Douga on Jan. 13 and has since then been watched by anime fans millions of times. In fact, in the first month of its posting, the episode already managed to reach the one million mark. On its second month, its viewership had already reached more than three million.
As of March 13, the clip has been viewed roughly more than three million times and has been commented on more than 250,000 times on Nico Nico alone. The figure is expected to rise even more if the number of views from the four other official streaming sites will also be considered.
To thank the fans of the anime series, series director Tatsuki tweeted, "Thank you for the three million views for the first episode of Kemono Friends! It is worth making a fuss...? It looks so indeed. What is happening actually? Anyway I have to back to work and calm down."
As of now, "Kemono Friends" is one of the only three anime series whose premiere episodes have reached more than three million views on the streaming site, the other two being "Attack on Titan" and "School-Live!" Considering the number of viewers who continue to watch the series on Nico Nico, "Kemono Friends" is expected to be the most watched anime series in the history of the site soon.
