Ken Ham Defends 'The Ark Encounter' to Secularist

Ken Ham, president and founder of Answers in Genesis, took to social media Monday morning to send a message to secularists who criticize Noah's Ark and blame God for all of the world's problems.

Ham is launching The Ark Encounter, a theme park set to open in Kentucky this summer. The main attraction is the largest timber frame structure in the world, replicating Noah's Ark from the Bible. The structure standing at 510 feet long, in accordance with the dimensions specified in the Bible, is getting a lot of attention not only across the United States but around the world.

Along with international interest has come an onslaught of attacks on The Ark Encounter. Ham took to Twitter Monday morning to address those who are trying to discredit the validity of Noah's Ark and who argue that the Bible's account of the great flood is cruel and unjust.

More than 1.4 million visitors are expected to tour The Ark Encounter in its first year, with its opening date scheduled for July 7. The 40 days and 40 nights theme reflects the number of days and nights it rained while Noah and his family were in the Ark, as recorded in Genesis 7.

The Ark Encounter can accommodate about 16,000 guests per day, but tickets have gone to pre-sale because it's predicted that more people than that may try to visit within the first few weeks of opening due to it being summer.

Construction of the Ark cost $92 million and most of that has been raised through bonds, donations, and memberships.

The Ark Encounter website recently released helicopter footage of the ongoing construction project.
