Kennesaw Fedex Shooting: 6 Shot, Gunman Still Loose
Multiple people have been rushed to hospital following a shooting at a FedEx facility in Kennesaw early on Tuesday morning.
The shooting is reported to have taken place at about 5.45 a.m. local time. Authorities have said that a male suspect arrived at the facility at 1675 Airport Road early in the morning and opened fire at the people.
According to Cobb County Police Sgt. Dana Pierce, following the shooting the suspect ran off and as yet has not been caught.
Officials rushed more than 50 emergency vehicles to the scene, and according to early estimations there are multiple victims from the incident. All victims have been taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, although at this early stage their names and conditions were not immediately released.
CNN is reporting that the number of people shot lies at six, with one of the injured being rushed straight into surgery with serious wounds.
The FedEx facility is on lockdown as the hunt for the gunman continues, and workers turning up for work on Tuesday morning are being turned away, where as workers already at the facility have been held in a warehouse and authorities continue their search.
FedEx spokesman Scott Fiedler released a statement at around 7:20 a.m. local time, saying, "FedEx is aware of the situation. Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of our team members, first responders and others affected. FedEx is cooperating with authorities."
