'Kevin Can Wait' Season 2 Spoilers: Cast Member Talks Donna's Death and Leah Remini

A cast member on "Kevin Can Wait" is finally speaking out on the changes for season 2. Mary-Charles Jones, who plays the second daughter Sara Gable, is sharing what she really thinks about her TV mom Donna's death, which prompted the exit of Erinn Hayes (Donna) and the addition of Leah Remini (Vanessa Cellucci).

Jones told Cinema Blend that she was initially surprised by the producers' decision to kill off her TV mom and let go of the actress playing the character. But she understood why it had to happen.

"It's really nothing to do with Erinn," the young star said. "It was just something in the show that wasn't working and we wanted to go in a bit of a different direction."

Learning that Remini was permanently joining the "Kevin Can Wait" season 2 also surprised Jones. She is, however, looking forward to working with the seasoned sitcom actress. She's also excited for the show's major changes.

"We have a great opportunity with Kevin being a single dad for some storylines," Jones said. "So I'm very interested for everyone to see the second season and get to see Kevin as this single dad character."

"Kevin Can Wait" season 2 will pick up a year after Donna's death with the family moving on from the loss. Star Kevin James told Yahoo TV that they will finally do what the original plan was for the show, with a single father coping with three children.

Fans expecting that Kevin and Vanessa will end up together on "Kevin Can Wait" might be disappointed to know that this won't likely happen in season 2. James admitted that it's not in the cards for his character for now, but he'll likely go back to dating again as part of moving on from Donna's death. It just won't be a romance with Vanessa, who is also his boss in the series.

"Kevin Can Wait" season 2 premieres on Monday, Sept. 25, at 9 p.m. EST on CBS. The show also stars Taylor Spreitler (Kendra), Ryan Cartwright (Chale), James DiGiacomo(Jack) and Gary Valentine (Kyle).
