Kevin Ware Return? Player Seen Practicing Jumpshot on Basketball Court (VIDEO)
Kevin Ware, the Louisville basketball player who suffered a gruesome leg injury during the NCAA tournament, was seen shooting jump shots on a basketball court, a sign that the player may soon return to action.
During the first half of Louisville's Elite Eight victory over Duke Ware landed awkwardly and broke his right leg. His teammates rallied around their fallen teammate and went on to win the NCAA title.
The junior tweeted over the weekend that he has was able to remove his cast and his crutches and is feeling stronger by the day. Ware was recently seen in Louisville's practice gym shooting jump shots, WDRB.com's Eric Crawford reported Monday night.
"I'm standing on my two feet on my own again now," Ware tweeted over the weekend.
The video of Ware breaking his leg went viral and support for the injured player poured in from all around the country.
The horrific injury occurred when Ware jumped up to try and block a 3-point shot by Duke's Tyler Thornton, but when he landed he came down at an angle and the bottom half of his leg snapped in half.
Video shows that players on the bench next to where he landed jumped back in horror and covered their faces, and Louisville's on court players also fell to the ground covering their faces, shocked at the injury.
The game was halted momentarily as medics rushed to Ware's aid, as he laid courtside in agony. As Ware was carried off on a stretcher fans chanted his name, but on court some of his teammates were moved to tears, and it was even reported that some players vomited by the bench.
Ware suffered a compound fracture and it is not yet known how long until he may be medically cleared, but Ware has insisted that he will be ready to go sometime in October which would be only seven months after the severe injury.
