Key Plays and Highlights of 2016 NBA Finals Game 7 [VIDEO]: LeBron's Block on Iguodala and Kyrie's 3pt Over Curry
LeBron James and the Cavaliers Bring First Championship Title Since 1964
The Cavaliers made history tonight by bringing to Cleveland their very first title since 1964. Apart from Kyrie Irving's 3-point winner, the play that stands out the most was LeBron James' epic block on Andre Iguodala with 1:50 minutes remaining in the game. It was one if not the key play of the game that helped the Cavs' run away with a victory.
From 1-3 to Winning the Series
Earlier in the series, a lot of people doubted the Cavaliers as they lost two straight one-sided games at the hands of Warriors. People had been criticizing their lackluster performance of all the core players as well as James, who previously promised his team the title two summers ago.
However, just as the Warriors were about to close the series, something changed inside the Cavaliers and they started getting back on track. With the help of his teammates, James ultimately dominated the latter games without question and left the crowd wondering, "Is King James back?"
Fitting Comeback for a King
In Game 7, the Cavaliers showed a cool-headed approach towards the pace of the game by consistently changing their players from the benches. This may have made Steve Kerr reluctant to use the "Death Lineup" to try and change the pace of the game. Instead, just as how some analysts predicted, he reserved the strategy in the last quarter. However, due to the Cavaliers' great reading and ability to adapt, they somehow managed to get used to the strategy and deliver clutch plays to keep ahead.
The Game-Changing Block
Just when the scores were tied, James made a clutch block from Iguodala's backboard shot with only 1:50 minutes remaining, which set the tempo in favor of the Cavs.
Kyrie's 3-Point Finisher
With only a few seconds left, the scores were still tied until a one-on-one between Irving and Curry which decided the fate of the series. With about 53 seconds left on the clock, Kyrie delivered an astonishing 3-point shot before Curry, and secured the Cavaliers' very first title.
Overall, James led the Cavaliers to victory with an astonishing triple double. Together with his team's unyielding determination, the Cavaliers definitely deserved to win and take home the golden trophy.
