Kia Motors Donates $5K to Kirk Cameron's Camp Firefly
Actor and evangelical leader Kirk Cameron recently attended an event in West Point, Ga., during which he received a $5,000 donation from Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia for his Camp Firefly, a free summer camp for terminally ill children and their families which takes place annually at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga.
Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia said in a statement provided to The Christian Post that it feels it is important to provide charitable assistance to local organizations.
"Providing support to organizations close to home like Camp Firefly is important to KMMG and benefits so many children and their families," Randy Jackson, KMMG's vice president of human resources and administration, said in a statement emailed to The Christian Post.

"We thank Kirk and Chelsea Cameron for the opportunity to participate in this year's retreat," Jackson added.
A ceremony took place Sunday at the Kia manufacturing plant in West Point, during which Cameron received a check for $5,000 and posed with executives of the plant.
Cameron, a father of six and husband to actress Chelsea Noble, founded Camp Firefly in 1989 to offer families of terminally ill children an escape from the daily pressures of hospital bills and medical treatment to spend one week at an all-expenses paid vacation in nature.
Activities at the weeklong summer camp include golfing, fishing, and a spa day, among other things.
"On behalf of Camp Firefly, I want to thank KMMG and its team members for recognizing how important it is for families to get away from the pressures of hospitals, medical treatments and other worries to have a chance to spend time with each other, and other families who can relate to their struggles and challenges," Cameron said in a released statement.
Cameron, who began his acting career on the 1990s sitcom "Growing Pains," has long expressed the importance of maintaining a healthy family life.
In addition to Camp Firefly, Cameron also seeks to offer guidance to married couples through his "Love Worth Fighting For" tour, which seeks to encourage couples to mend their marriages and find the best in their significant others.
Cameron's "Love Worth Fighting For" conference is currently touring the U.S., and his Camp Firefly will take place this summer.
The Christian Post reached out to Cameron but did not receive a response by press time.
