Kim Kardashian Divorce Finalized, Kanye West to Propose?
Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries are officially divorced and fans are now speculating whether Kanye West will immediately propose to the reality TV star.
On Monday, a divorce judgment was formally signed off on by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge, legally ending Kardashian's marriage to Kris Humphries 19 months after the reality star filed, according to RadarOnline.com.
In October, public relations executive Jonathan Cheban, who helped make Kardashian one of the biggest reality TV stars in the world, confirmed that the 32-year-old would likely get engaged to West, 35, once her ongoing divorce from the NBA star was finalized.
"It would be great [if Kim and Kanye get married]! She needs to get divorced first, though. When [Kris Humphries] is done playing games, I guess she'll get engaged," Cheban previously told Life & Style magazine at Gabrielle's Angel Foundation 2012 Angel Ball.
Kardashian infamously filed for divorce from Humphries, 28, after just 72 days of marriage on Oct. 31, 2011. Despite the backlash she received over her filing, her mother Kris Jenner is said to be thrilled about the prospect of her daughter having a third marriage.
"Kris Jenner is ecstatic that Kim is dating Kanye; she can see their celebrity stock and wealth rising by the day! She has already told Kim that if they make it down the aisle they are going to do it on camera again," a source close to the Kardashian family reportedly told RadarOnline.com.
"You would think most moms would be keen for their daughter to take it slow," the source added.
Despite West's enthusiasm about marrying Kardashian, some friends close to the rapper have reportedly expressed their reservations- some especially objected to his idea of incorporating his late mother's jewelry in Kardashian's engagement ring.
Donda West was a Professor of English at Clark Atlanta University and the Chair of the English Department at Chicago State University. Whereas Kardashian rose to fame in 2007 following the release of her homemade sex tape. Critics believe that associating the two would taint Donda's legacy.
"His friends think it's a terrible idea and are advising him not to give Kim the ring because it's a gift, it would be difficult for Kanye to ask for it back if they ever split up," a source close to West reportedly said.
"They've also reminded him that Kim is not somebody who works hard for her money. She makes millions doing reality shows and selling her image, and Donda's jewelry shouldn't be part of that image," the source added.
