Kim Kardashian Divorce: 'Intuition' Behind Split, Says Star
In a recent report, Kim Kardashian has divulged that her decision to divorce Kris Humphries was led by her “intuition.”
“I think when you know so deep in your heart that you just have to listen to your intuition, and follow your heart,” said Kardashian. “There’s no right or wrong thing to do.”
Speaking to an Australian news reporter, Kardashian said that fans should not accuse E! Network of orchestrating her wedding, regardless the length of her marriage – which lasted only 72 days.
Since “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” debuted in 2007, the family’s reality show has earned E! top ratings.
“Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event” broke E! Network’s history ratings and garnered four million viewers on the first day. The two-hour television special on Kim’s Aug. 20 nuptials aired Oct. 10.
Kardashian announced that she had filed for divorce Monday, after just 72 days of marriage, leading many to believe the wedding was a publicity stunt.
The network said that any accusation that the lavish wedding was orchestrated for publicity or money “is completely false,” and affirmed that the Kardashian wedding event was real.
“The Kardashians have authentically lived their lives on camera for a long time and Kim’s wedding is one of the many real-life events that the family has shared with viewers,” E! said in a statement.
The network fears that its reputation has been tainted and E! Entertainment President Suzanne Kolb spoke to The Associated Press to clarify that the event was not intended to steer profits or Kardashian’s publicity.
“I don’t even know if Kim has had a chance to emotionally process this the way that she needs to,” said Kolb. “I don’t have any indication that this is going to change her career path.”
News of the divorce between Kardashian and Humphries surprised very few people as rumors of trouble had been repeatedly reported for weeks.
Kardashian explained her decision to split from Humphries in a statement Monday.
“After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage,” said Kardashian. “I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”
Kim and her sister Khloe Kardashian are currently promoting a line of handbags in Australia. A new season of “Kourtney and Kim Take New York” premieres on E! Nov. 27 and will cover Kim’s marital problems, according to Kolb.
