Kim Kardashian Divorce: Reality Star Made 'Nothing' Off Wedding, Says Mother
After announcing that she would divorce NBA Nets player Kris Humphries, Kim Kardashian’s mother has embarked on a radio tour to defend her daughter.
Kris Jenner, Kardashian’s mother, made a stop at “The Sway In The Morning” radio show Tuesday morning to clear her daughter’s name, following the backlash Kim has received for announcing her divorce after 72 days of marriage.
Jenner explained how hard the decision to divorce has been on her daughter. However, she maintained that the Kardashian and Jenner family is supporting the soon-to-be divorced reality television star.
“Kim obviously had to make a tough decision yesterday and it’s been really, really hard on her for sure but as her mom and she knows me and she knows her family well enough to know that no matter what I’m there, we’re all there for here through thick and thin,” Jenner told Sway.
She added, “I told her you have to follow your heart. You have to do what you feel like you need to do and we will totally respect whatever it is that you are going through.”
After the decision to divorce was announced, many speculated about the validity of the Kardashian and Humphries marriage. However, Jenner defended her daughter by saying there was little to no monetary gain made from the nuptials.
“I think that the misconception that is so annoying in the media and the press is that the wedding was a sham and she did it for the money,” Jenner said. “Kim didn’t make any money off of this wedding.”
Jenner said Kardashian ended up spending a lot of money on her nuptials, contrary to the many media reports that have surfaced since her wedding in August.
“She didn’t make five cents off of the wedding. She spent millions of dollars of her own money on the wedding and our network was very generous and filmed the show and obviously gave her a salary and all of us shoot fees and all that,” Jenner said on the radio show.
“But it’s not like we walked away with millions of dollars jingling in our pockets,” she stated.
