Kim Kardashian Mocked After Wedding Gift Donation to Charity
Kim Kardashian has reportedly donated approximately $200,000 to the Dream Foundation, said to be double the value of her and estranged husband Kris Humphries' wedding gifts.
Kardashian, 31, received widespread backlash after divorcing Humphries after just 72 days, with many accusing her of having a sham marriage. Her response: she sent a letter to each of her and Humphries' wedding guests, explaining that she had made the donation, according to TMZ.
"I would like to thank you for your generous and thoughtful wedding gift. It has taken me some time to pull everything together but I wanted to let you know that the money for every gift received by me at my wedding has been donated to the Dream Foundation," Kardashian wrote in the letter to her wedding guests.
The reality TV personality angered fans when she filed for divorce in October after less than three months and added further fuel to the fire when it was revealed that she had reportedly received more than $15 million after selling her wedding photos and footage of her lavish nuptials.
While the Dream Foundation praised the exorbitant donation, many fans have taken to Twitter, blasting the move as a strategic attempt to improve her tarnished image.
"Another publicity stunt I see RT @TMZ: Kim Kardashian Donates Twice the Value of Wedding Gifts to Charity," Georgette Chanel tweeted.
"Thats one way to avoid paying taxes RT @TMZ: Kim Kardashian Donates Twice the Value of Wedding Gifts to Charity," Ahmed Al-Ayoub tweeted.
"She's still trash. "@TMZ: Kim Kardashian Donates Twice the Value of Wedding Gifts to Charity"," Channy Lively tweeted.
The news comes just days after reports that Kardashian and two of her sisters, Kourtney and Khloe, are being sued for $5 million in a class-action lawsuit, according to The New York Post.
The lawsuit charges that QuickTrim is "marketed by the defendants as a clinically proven formula that will increase metabolism, curb appetite and promote weight loss. In reality, QuickTrim's main ingredient is a large dose of caffeine, which the FDA has determined is not a safe or effective treatment for weight control," the Manhattan federal court filing states.
Kardashian and her sisters, who endorse QuickTrim, are accused of lying about the role of the product in their weight loss and could be faced to fork out millions if the courts find in favor of the four plaintiffs.
