Kim Kardashian Wedding: Reality TV Star Is Larger Than Life on PETA Billboard
PETA Smashes Kim Kardashian for Wearing Fur
While some contend Kim Kardashian has disrespected the sacred institution of marriage, others argue she has disrespected the sacred lives of animals.
Animal rights advocacy group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has dedicated its latest holiday-themed billboard to television personality and recently-single Kardashian.
The Los Angeles billboard, which will sit on the corner of Beverly Boulevard and Sweetzer Avenue by early December, shows the Kardashian sister, decked in fur, sitting opposite a picture of baby foxes.
The billboard's haunting message reads: "Kim: These Babies Miss Their Mother…Is She On Your Back?"
PETA is playing off of Kardashian's recent decision to divorce her husband of 72 days, Kris Humphries.
"Kim knows that animals on fur farms are beaten, electrocuted, and often skinned alive. We've explained it to her, and she's watched a video exposé that was filmed inside fur farms," said PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange. "When Kim is ready to put an end to her relationship with fur, PETA will be happy to take her discards and donate them to the homeless."
Kardashian announced a divorce from her husband Kris Humphries on Oct. 31. Due to the marriage's short shelf life of 72 days, critics have questioned whether Kardashian married for publicity with a $10 million lavish ceremony in Montecito.
"I married for love. I can't believe I even have to defend this," Kardashian blogged after her divorce announcement.
After TMZ announced it had attained documents citing Kardashian's divorce from Humphries on Monday, Oct. 31, Kardashian released a statement to on her blog, confirming the rumors.
"After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage," Kardashian said.
"I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things do not work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best," she added.
Kardashian cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for her split from spouse Humphries.
According to Us Magazine, the reality TV star continues to maintain a low profile post-divorce announcement.
Kardashian and Humphries share a prenuptial agreement, which will prove a financially wise decision, as TMZ estimated Kardashian's worth to be $35 million and Humphries' worth $8 million.
Sources claim celebrity lawyer Laura Wasser will represent Kardashian in the divorce proceedings.
