Kim Richards Admits to Alcoholism on 'Real Housewives' Reunion Special
Kim Richards, one of several colorful castmates on Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" reality show reveals she is an alcoholic on the upcoming three-part reunion special for the show.
In a sneak peek for the three-part saga, Richards, fresh out of rehab, tells host Andy Cohen bluntly, "I'm an alcoholic, I'm an alcoholic."
Richards' news may not come as a shocker to fans of her obnoxious on-screen antics and to fellow castmates, who suspected Richards suffered from alcoholism, but it is the first time Richards hasn't denied the disease.
"Housewife" Adrienne Maloof lauds Richards' bravery for attending rehab.
"It takes a lot of courage to do what she has done," Maloof told Us Weekly. "It's a step in the right direction."
Richards, a former child actress, joined her sister Kyle as a full cast member of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," which began airing in October 2010.
The "Race to Witch Mountain" actress has a daughter, Brooke, with her first husband, G. Monty Brinson.
In 1991, Richards was engaged to salesman John J. Collett, who was later murdered over a bad business deal. She then married Gregory Davis and had two children, Whitney and Chad.
Richards also has a daughter from a previous relationship.
A source told People magazine that Kim was "basically homeless," and moving from one friend's house to another before she entered rehab.
The reality star moved out of her ex-boyfriend Ken Blumenfeld's house after she discovered he had an online dating profile with Match.com. Blumenfeld was also charged with a DUI in 2009, which he also hid from Richards.
On Jan. 10, Kyle Richards visited Ryan Seacrest's radio show and said her sister was doing just fine.
"[Kim] is much better and she is in a wonderful place," Kyle said, adding that her and her sister have a better relationship now, despite their televised bickering.
"The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Reunion" special part one will air on Jan. 30.
