Kindle Devices Broken by Airport Security X-Ray Machines? Amazon Denies Problem
Kindle e-readers can be damaged and broken by airport security X-ray machines; with screens becoming “scrambled” and permanently affected, The Christian Post has heard.
Users from various forums have alleged that their Kindle readers, made by Internet giant Amazon, have been broken when exposed to the low levels of radiation in X-ray machines as they’ve gone through baggage security checks when traveling.
One user on a Kindle forum has described their Kindle as being “burned so badly that even in the off position you see all of the lines and squiggles and letters.”
However, Amazon as well as a number of other tech. experts have come out to deny that airport security checks could be causing the problem with the Kindles.
An Amazon spokesperson has told The Daily Telegraph: “Exposing your Kindle to an X-ray machine, such as those used by airport security, should not cause any problems.”
At the moment the allegations are still nothing but rumors, and although numerous bloggers are suggesting methods to avoid any potential problems with airport scanners, the cause of the problem needs to be investigated further.
