Kindle Fire HD 7 Price Drops to $160 After Nexus 7 2013 Release
The Kindle Fire HD 7-inch model price dropped to just $160 after the release of the Nexus 7 2013 version.
Amazon has been slashing prices on its popular gadget in recent weeks in wake of the competition, according to a report from Gizmodo.
The offer is only available for a limited time so those interested in getting a high-quality 7-inch tablet should jump on this deal quick. The device normally retails for $199. The company is expected to unveil a new version in the coming months that will compete better with the Nexus 7 and upcoming iPad mini 2.

Amazon is most likely attempting to clear out its inventory before it drops the new version later this fall. The prices on the Kindle Fire HD might drop even lower in the coming weeks.
Amazon unveiled the Kindle Fire HD 7 and 8.9 at a press conference towards the end of last year.
This device is the successor to the original Kindle Fire tablet and sports an 8.9-inch screen with 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution and 254 PPI. The Kindle Fire HD is also be capable of in-plane switch and Amazon promises that it is 40 percent faster than the original thanks to its 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4470 processor.
The 7-inch version is slightly less powerful with a display that has a 1280x800 resolution and a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor.
Amazon also stated that the device's MIMO antenna allows it to retrieve content at a rate that is 41 percent faster than the new Google Nexus 7 or iPad.
It also features Dolby Digital, which brings a dual speaker system as opposed to the singular speaker found on the iPad. The Kindle Fire HD battery lasts longer and the tablet starts with 1GB RAM.
