Kindle Fire HDX Price Slashed by 15 Percent: Buy Amazon Tablets Discounted
Amazon is running a special promotion today where many of its popular devices such as the Kindle Fire HD will be discounted by 15 percent.
Customers will be able to pick up the tablet for $118 instead of the normal $139 sticker. The Kindle Fire HDX will drop to $195 from $229 and the Kindle e-reader will be $10 cheaper at $59. In order to access the promotion customers must enter the code "ThnksFAA." The deal will expire by the end of the day.
Amazon is running the special promotion in light of the recent decision by the Federal Aviation Administration to allow electronic device use during flight.
"We've been fighting for our customers on this issue for years, and we are thrilled by the FAA's recent decision-- this is a big win for customers," said Amazon vice president Drew Herdener in a statement. "Delta and JetBlue have already started flights with new rules-- we're excited to see which airlines are next."
Amazon introduced the Kindle Fire HDX back in September.
The 7-inch model features a screen with a resolution of 1900 x 1200 at 323 ppi. The device also comes with a new quad-core 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, Dolby Digital Plus audio, a 720p front-facing camera, and a new Adreno 330 GPU, with up to 11 hours battery life. It can also be extended to 17 hours if it is used solely for reading.
It features the new Fire OS 3.0 "Mojito" and an on-screen mayday button that enables live on-device tech support. It allows Amazon technical support to deal with any issue users of the tablet might be having with it through 24/7 one-way video support with tech agents that can remote-control the device for support purposes.
