Kinect 2 Is Able to Lip Read
Since its release in 2010, the Kinect for the Xbox 360 has redefined how people interact with video games. Instead of using a physical controller, the player’s physical body has become the controller.
According to a new report, the Kinect 2 will be far superior than its predecessor.
The Kinect 2 will be so accurate that it will be able to read lips.
Most of the improvements will be coming from advancements in motion sensing and voice recognition.
In addition to being able to read players lips, the device will also be able to determine whether players are angry and what direction they’re facing.
The next-generation device will be able to track players’ voices, determining the pitch and volume, and measure different emotional states.
The Kinect 2 is expected to be integrated into the next-generation Xbox.
When the original Kinect was launched, the depth sensor featured 30 frames per second (FPS) with a maximum resolution of 320x240. The limitations are set by the USB controller interface which allow for a maximum of 35 MB, but only uses 15-16 MB, which allows multiple USB devices to be connected to the Xbox 360 at the same time.
According to a Eurogamer’s source, the Kinect 2 will be able to feed the Xbox more information, giving it a higher resolution CCD (charge-coupled device).
Microsoft has however stated that it “does not comment on rumor or speculation.”
