'Kingdom Hearts 3' News: Interesting Detail About the Second Playable Character Revealed

Previous entries of the 'Kingdom Hearts' series have also allowed players to control more than one character

"Kingdom Hearts 3" will allow players to once again assume the role of the familiar, Keyblade-wielding protagonist Sora, but there is another individual who they will be able to control.

Director Tetsuya Nomura revealed as much, while speaking to IGN earlier this year.

Beyond sharing that there will be a second playable character, Nomura did not reveal anything else about this feature. But more recently, a new revelation is giving fans a better idea of what to expect.

Some of the game's developers were present at the series' 15th Anniversary Commemorative Campaign Preview Night, and during that event, it was revealed that the second playable character was related in some way to one of the game's worlds, KH13 reported.

Unfortunately, nothing else was revealed about the second character. But knowing that this individual may be tied to a specific world is interesting.

While the developers are still not saying who the second playable character included in "Kingdom Hearts 3" will be, that has not kept fans from coming out with their own guesses.

Over on Reddit, more than a few fans are predicting that Riku will get the nod.

Riku and Sora are friends who have also fought a few times here and there, but beyond those things, another key reason for why the former could be the second playable character in the upcoming game is because he is also a Keyblade wielder.

Aqua has also been mentioned as someone who could potentially become that second playable character, and Redditor "WannabeTesla" even pointed out that there was a good reason for her to be chosen since many fans of the series are likely familiar with her in that role due to her serving as the main protagonist in "Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage."

For now, fans will just have to wait for the developers to finally reveal the identity of the second character, and that may happen sooner rather than later, since "Kingdom Hearts 3" is already due out next year.
