'Kingdom Hearts 3' Release Date News: First Look at Game Coming Next Year?
Although Square Enix is hard at work on "Kingdom Hearts 3," fans will not get their first look at the highly anticipated anytime soon.
The studio said that it has nothing significant enough to show at the moment, but fans are convinced that they will have something to show fans by 2018.
Disney has announced that the D23 Expo will be held in Japan again February next year. Media outlets believe this will be the perfect venue for Square Enix to show off "Kingdom Hearts 3."
They imagine that by that time, the developer has put together a good chunk of the title that they can showcase to gamers who have been waiting to see a trailer for the game.
KH Insider believes that the timing of the D23 Expo being held in Japan was for the purposes of spotlighting "Kingdom Hearts 3."
The site recalled the times the event was held in the country, which was back in 2013 and 2015, wherein the "Kingdom Hearts" franchise was heavily presented.
It was in the former that a trailer for "Kingdom Hearts 3" was actually shown and the "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix" was officially announced.
With that in mind, the D23 Expo 2018 is expected to be the stage in which fans will finally be treated with footage of "Kingdom Hearts 3."
While this is likely, Square Enix and Disney are yet to provide official announcements on the matter. The collaborators remain silent with regard to the progress of the game especially with other "Kingdom Hearts" releases.
It is important to note, however, that game director Tetsuya Nomura stated in the past that he intends to show their progress of the game this year "at an event somewhere."
Speaking to Famitsu (translated via Gematsu), he emphasized that while this could be the case, the release of "Kingdom Hearts 3" is still far off.
"While I can't make a sweeping statement because the development process is different from what we've done so far, there are still worlds untouched," he revealed.
"Production is progressing on unannounced worlds, in a state that we cannot show them off. In terms of the state of development, there is still some way to go," he went on to say.
