'Kingdom Hearts' orchestra set to travel the world in 2017 concert series

A new "Kingdom Hearts" adventure will begin next year, though it's a different kind than what gamers might expect. Square Enix and Disney announced recently that "Kingdom Hearts" will travel the world in a concert series next year.

Called the "Kingdom Hearts Orchestra World Tour," the concert will kick off in Japan and close in New York. The tour is the first official symphonic concert of the game and marks the 15th anniversary of "Kingdom Hearts." The concert series will feature the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in Japan, and other world class professional orchestras to perform a selection of original soundtrack from the crossover action RPG, including arrangements from the series composer Yoko Shimomura. The music will be accompanied by HD video cinematics supervised by director Tetsuya Nomura.

"The idea of a Kingdom Hearts concert has been in the works for several years, but even so, I was astonished to learn that our music would be performed by a full orchestra, in other countries no less," Nomura said in a press release. "As the director of the series, I am confident that what we've created will touch the hearts of our beloved fans everywhere."
