'Kingdom Hearts' rumors: 'KH 2.9' and 'KH 3' details leak

Details of the upcoming "Kingdom Hearts III" game and a surprise "Kingdom Hearts 2.9" title have allegedly been leaked by a Square Enix employee.

With "Kingdom Hearts" fans awaiting the highly-anticipated release of the ninth installment in the "Kingdom Hearts" action role-playing video game series, an inadvertent leak has emerged on a "KH 2.9" title that is reported to be in development for PlayStation 3 and Playstation 4.

The leak, which was said to have come from a Square Enix employee, was first spotted by "Kingdom Hearts" forum, KH13.com which reported details from a LinkedIn profile supposedly belonging to a person working for the Japanese video game developer.

The account contained the account owner's 11 months worth of job experience details as a game designer with Square Enix, and enumerated specifics on "Kingdom Hearts III," which has an as-yet-unrevealed release date, as well as "Kingdom Hearts 2.9," a title currently in the works for PS3 and PS4 consoles.

This isn't the first time "Kingdom Hearts 2.9" has been mentioned. It briefly appeared during the E3 2015 in June when the name popped up on Square Enix's schedule screen presentation before it was removed.

According to the details posted on the LinkedIn CV, "Kingdom Hearts III" will bring back the Gummi Ship, the primary method of transportation between the many "Kingdom Hearts" worlds.

It will also be introducing a new multiplayer mode and features a gaming environment based on the world of Pixar, contradicting an official announcement during a Disney press conference at the Anaheim, California D23 Expo stating that "KH III" would take place on a world based on 2014 computer animated film, "Big Hero 6."

Square Enix has not confirmed any of the information contained on the LinkedIn profile, and speculations have emerged the account may have been created to set up false rumors on the upcoming game.

As the game developer has made it standard procedure not to respond to rumors and speculations on its products, fans of the game can only surmise what "Kingdom Hearts 2.9" is going to be, or if it even exists.
