'Kingdom Hearts Unchained X' Coming To North America On April 7

When "Kingdom Hearts Unchained X" was released by Square Enix in Japan September last year, fans of the game series in other regions such as North America were anticipating when the game would make its way westward. Now, fans can rejoice that after so many months, the mobile game will finally be arriving in North America on April 7. The game will be available for both iOS and Android and according to a director Tetsuya Nomura in the Square Enix blog, it will be bringing "brand new adventure that reveals the origins of Kingdom Hearts."

Nomura also shared that the story of the upcoming game will be occurring at the beginning of "Kingdom Hearts" story or the "earlier part of the narrative." It is in the same world as the other games in the series and takes place before the Keyblade War. The player will be playing the role of a keyblade wielder, according to Nomura.

According to a report in IGN, the player will have another character guiding him/her all throughout the game and this is a character called Chirithy. Interestingly, Nomura said that he patterned this character after his pet Scottish Fold cat. The player will find himself starting out in a new town called "Daybreak Town." Players need to complete live events and earns medals, which they can do in cooperative play or competitive play.

A report in GameRant also cited how the game is related to other "Kingdom Hearts" games. According to the report, the game has portions that bring back players to "Dream Drop Distance," "Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth By Sleep," and "Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover."

GameRant also noted that customization in the game can be done with so many clothing options to choose from, which players can pick for their avatar. These options come from previous games in the series. The game does not seem to have too many "micro transactions" which means players can safely play the game without spending so much on it.

In Japan, the game was available for free on mobile devices. This may likely be the same when it is released for North America.
