'Kino's Journey: The Beautiful World -The Animated Series' Episode 2 Spoilers: Titular Character's Travels to End in the 'Coliseum'?

Travelling to strange lands has its equal share of perks and dangers, which Kino now has to navigate and adapt to on the Japanese action-adventure anime series, "Kino's Journey: The Beautiful World –The Animated Series."

As the premiere episode has shown, Kino is the kind of traveler that doesn't ask for much. She does it because it's fun and because it brings her all sorts of knowledge about the different ways that people live in a variety of lands. She only gets and keeps what she needs to survive the many trails she plans on exploring. Also, she always limits her stay in each land to three days.

She is accompanied by her talking Motorrad, Hermes, who is and has always been her only companion since she began her journey. And even though she may have to do some necessary harm in order to preserve her own life, she sees herself continuing on until such time that she feels it within herself to stop.

Her journey has also made it easier for her to understand the importance of adapting to a particular country's rules and customs, no matter how strange they may be. And it seems that from a place where murder has been made legal, she will now find herself caught up in another country's strange practices on the next episode simply titled, "Coliseum."

As it turns out, the Coliseum is ruled by a cruel King who has made it mandatory for all visitors to choose between participating in an arena battle or spending their lives as slaves. It seems that Kino will be choosing the former option and will once again be wielding her trusty gun to help her win the fight. But will she be able to take her opponent down in a situation that serves only the King's enjoyment?

The series is based on the light novels written by Keiichi Sigsawa and illustrated by Kouhaku Kuroboshi. It was previously adapted into a 13-episode anime series that aired on WOWOW in 2003.

"Kino's Journey: The Beautiful World - The Animated Series" airs on Fridays at 10 p.m. JST on AT-X and late night at 12:30 a.m. JST on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, and BS11. Information on other broadcast schedules and online resources can be found on the series' official site. Episodes will also be simulcast in selected regions outside Japan via Crunchyroll.
