Gene Simmons Announces Kiss, Motley Crue Tour; Slams Rihanna

KISS frontman, Gene Simmons, recently slammed pop singer Rihanna as "fake" during a press conference where he was promoting the KISS and Motley Crue's 40-date co-headlining North American summer tour.

"We're sick and tired of girls getting up there with dancers and karaoke tapes in back of them. No karaoke singers allowed. No fake b---s---. Leave that to Rihanna-Schimianna and everybody else whose name ends with an 'A,'" Simmons said according to Billboard.com.

Simmons, the band's bassist, was explaining that the upcoming tour would be performed live and criticized the Bajan singer for lip synching during her performances, which Mötley Crüe drummer, Tommy Lee, echoed.

"No disrespect to Rihanna, she's a great singer, but we're in a slump for some s--- that has some personality and appeal beyond a bunch of pop stuff that's floating around out there," Lee told Billboard.

"I'm glad he said that actually because I don't think I can bear watching another f---ing award show that is just a little bit better than 'American Idol.' It's f---ing pathetic to watch people go out and f---ing karaoke with a bunch of lights and video," he added. "It's all completely watered down."

Despite their criticisms, Rihanna, 24, has had a total of eleven number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the youngest solo artist to ever achieve that.

Her pop songs, including "We Found Love" and "Umbrella" have earned her five American Music Awards, eighteen Billboard Music Awards, two BRIT Awards and six Grammy Awards.

Although Simmons and Lee were focused on trashing Rihanna, KISS bandmate, Paul Stanley explained that the upcoming tour, which hits more than 40 U.S. cities, is about promoting positivity and having fun.

"We're not going to be preaching about saving the whales. We're not going to be talking about toxic sludge. We're up there to rock and roll. Everybody deserves a night off, and that's what this is," Stanley told CNN.

The KISS and Motley Crue summer tour will hit 40 US cities, and kicks off on July 19, 2012.
