Konami Confirms Cancellation of 'Silent Hills' on PlayStation 4 (VIDEO)
After rumors emerged PlayStation 4's popular horror game, "Silent Hills" would be taken off the console, Konami confirmed the news saying the game has now been canceled.
After "P.T.," the well-received playable teaser for what was supposed to be the upcoming "Silent Hill" game scheduled for pull-out from the PlayStation Store, Japanese game publisher Konami has come forward to announce the Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro game has been abandoned.
After a month of speculation surrounding Konami's estrangement with Kojima Productions, game developer Hideo Kojima informed fans he was leaving the critically acclaimed "Metal Gear Solid" series after the completion of its fifth installment, "Phantom Pain," which is due to be released this fall.

His split with Konami resulted in the cancelation of Kojima Station, his popular video webcast series hosted on Konami's website, as well as the removal of his logo from the "Metal Gear Solid" franchise titles and promotional materials which Konami later reinstated after massive backlash from fans.
This was followed by news "P.T." would be removed from the PlayStation Network by April 30, marking the third casualty of the Konami – Kojima friction.
Director Guillermo del Torro, who co-helmed "Silent Hills" with Kojima, reportedly told audiences "Silent Hills" was not going to happen at a San Francisco film festival Saturday.
"Walking Dead" actor Norman Reedus, who had been cast as the latest "Silent Hills" protagonist, has also confirmed via Twitter the game has been withdrawn.
With the potential classic-in-the-making shelved indefinitely, fans have been enjoined to download "P.T." before it is taken down completely at the end of the month.
While Konami insists that the "Silent Hill" franchise, which launched in 1999, will continue, it has seen less success in recent years, and the cancelation of its highly anticipated upcoming sequel may very well be the proverbial nail in the franchise's coffin.
