'Kony 2012' Creator Jason Russell Arrested for Public Masturbation
Jason Russell, the co-creator of the viral "Kony 2012" human rights campaign, was arrested and taken into police custody on Thursday night for allegedly performing public masturbation.
The San Diego Police Department allege that the 33-year-old co-founder of the non-profit Invisible Children charity appeared to be under the influence of something, according to NBC San Diego.
Along with public masturbation, Russell has been accused of vandalizing cars in what law enforcement described as "very strange" behavior.

Police claim that Russell's odd behavior included running through traffic "in his underwear" and screaming, which prompted several members of the public to make official complaints via telephone.
"[Russell] was no problem for the police department however, during the evaluation we learned that we probably needed to take care of him. So officers detained him and transferred him to a local medical facility for further evaluation and treatment," Lt. Andra Brown said during a press conference.
The father of two, who describes himself as a Christian, recently grabbed national headlines for his on-going charity work which is aimed at helping the International Criminal Court locate and arrest indicted war criminal, Joseph Kony.
Kony, a Ugandan native, inspired Russell and Invisible Children to create the now famous "Kony 2012" video campaign which immediately went viral on social networking site YouTube, receiving over 30 million views in less than 24 hours.
The almost 30 minute long "KONY 2012" video gives viewers an eye opening glimpse into the terrifying lives of Ugandan children who live in fear of being abducted by the globally condemned Ugandan-based terrorist group known as the Lord's Resistance Army.
Kony is accused of leading the LRA, a violent group that Invisible Children claims is responsible for the on-going abuse and ruthless killings of thousands of Ugandan children.
The group reportedly abducts children, who are then trained to kill innocent civilians. Dozens of politicians along with celebrities are responding to Invisible Children's calls to "Make KONY Famous" and ultimately stop Joseph Kony once and for all.
Russell's arrest could further harm Invisible Children's credibility following recent reports that the charity is a scam after critics found inconsistencies in the organization's financial records.
