Kourtney Kardashian Baby Name Announced on Instagram

Kourtney Kardashian gave birth to her third child on Sunday, Dec. 14, the same day as her eldest son Mason's fifth birthday. After giving birth, the reality star took to social media to wish Mason a happy birthday and wrote on Instagram, "Happy birthday to the coolest little boy in the entire world. You teach me so much every single day and changed my universe the second I met you. You have taught me what life is all about and I am truly blessed and honored to be your mommy."

Though fans gushed at the sweet post, many were wondering about Kourtney's baby's name, as it was not announced right away after she gave birth. The 35-year old waited a whole week before taking to Instagram once more to reveal the name of her child.

"Madly in love with my little Reign Aston Disick," she captioned the picture of her hand holding her newborn son's hand.

And though it was earlier reported that Scott Disick wanted to name the child after both his father and Kourtney's father—which would have made the child's name Jeffrey Robert—a source from Hollywood Life claims that Kourtney wanted a name that was more unique.

"They both fought over the name, and Scott really wanted to stick to honoring their fathers, but Kourtney got more adamant that it be unique," said the source.

The source also said that Kourtney wanted the child's name to "represent a ruler" and one that would be indicative of the idea that the Kardashian family is American royalty.

"Kourtney wanted a completely unique name, she wanted him to represent a ruler, and Sovereign Disick doesn't have the same ring to it as Reign Disick," said the source to Hollywood Life.
