Kris Humphries: 'Faith in God' Carried Family Through Kim Kardashian Divorce Ordeal

Kris Humphries finally spoke out Friday on Good Morning America (GMA), insisting he is moving forward after his 72-day marriage to Kim Kardashian.

Since Kardashian filed for divorce, Humphries has kept a low profile and although he was said to be initially devastated, he now appears stronger than ever.

Joined by his mother Debra, Humphries spoke candidly with GMA's Josh Elliot, despite dodging questions about his marriage.

When asked how he is doing Humphries told Elliot, “it's going good I'm excited to be closer to playing basketball.”

Humphries who has played in the NBA for years, has been anxiously waiting for the lockout to end, although the free agent is yet to join a team.

Elliot asked whether the former New Jersey Nets player still loves his estranged wife, to which Humphries didn't directly respond.

"I'm focused on just what I can control...which is being ready to play ball and supporting my mom and her cookie baking," Humphries said.

Last month’s reports suggested that Humphries was unaware Kardashian was filing for divorce, and that he was just as surprised as fans.

Humphries also shocked fans last week when he responded to the divorce filing by requesting an annulment instead, which would legally void the marriage.

The former couple are said to have a pre-nuptial agreement in place, which likely prohibits Humphries from revealing private details about his marriage with Kardashian.

If the annulment is granted, the agreement would be made void which critics say has Kardashian fearful.

Kardashian has received widespread criticism since seeking a divorce from Humphries.

It was reported that she pocketed in excess of $18 million after selling broadcasting rights of her lavish nuptials, which left critics assuming the wedding was staged.

Humphries however has gained a lot of sympathy from fans including actress Holly Robinson Peete.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Peete confirmed she had spoken with some NBA players who were condemning Kardashian and sympathizing with Humphries.

"They just felt so sorry for him, because they know he just got so caught up in stuff. And I just feel bad that no one’s talking about him, I really do," she said.

Debra told Elliot that despite her son's drama she remains grateful.

"It's our faith in God that carried us through all these times," she said.

Humphries humbly added, "Life is more about how you can help other people and making the most out of your platform."
