Kris Jenner Separation Defended by Sister: She's Not A 'Monster Mom,' Says Karen Houghton
Kris Jenner's sister, Karen Houghton, is trying to walk back comments she said in which she described her sister as mean and revealed that Bruce Jenner had sought the advice of a lawyer regarding his separation from Kris.
"My sister is not a monster mom," Houghton wrote on her Facebook page. "[Kris] happens to be a fabulous mother!"
Her sister had previously told In Touch: "You know what drives Kris? Power, power, power and money. It's called wanting power, Gucci purses, Bentleys, all the things I don't care about that she does."
"If something is upsetting you, you are either going to hit the bottle, do drugs, go to the gym constantly, or you are going to work," Houghton previously said. "It's an addiction and it's because you are unhappy. You do these things because there's a hole that's not filled."
With news of the separation, now public speculation over the couple's fortune and future is rampant.
Under California law, spouses are entitled to half of the shared assets during a divorce if there is not an agreement in place before the nuptials.
"This is going to be a very bitter pill for Kris to swallow because when they divorce is finalized, she'll have to split half the family fortune with Bruce," an insider told Radar Online.
Among the assets to be divided up will be the couple's Calabasas, Calif. mansion, a fleet of luxury cars and the $40 million television deal the family signed.
But in a unique twist, during the beginning of their marriage, Bruce was worth an estimated $100 million due to endorsement deals and his Bruce Jenner Aviation business, a corporate airplane sales company.
"Bruce was the primary breadwinner and he provided Kris with a luxurious lifestyle when they were first married," a source said. "He had endorsement deals and was a very popular motivational speaker."
Now, both of their massive fortunes are expected to be fiercely fought over.
"Never in her wildest dreams would Kris have ever anticipated she could be losing the family fortune she worked so hard for. She won't give it up without a fight," the source said.
