Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence Feud Over New Role? (VIDEO)
Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence both play incredibly popular female leads in fan-favorite films, Twilight and The Hunger Games respectively. There has long been speculation that the two are engaged in a battle to maintain their top positions, but is the battle between them fiction or is there truth behind the rumors?
Stewart and Lawrence are both vying for the lead in new movie "Lie Down in Darkness," based upon William Styron's novel. They are up for the role of Peyton Loftis, a woman abused by her father. "It is very unusual for two actresses to be so vocal in lobbying for a role," a source told the NY Post. "And even more unusual that they are the two hottest young actresses of the moment."
According to the publisher, "William Styron traces the betrayals and infidelities-the heritage of sprite and endlessly disappointed love-that afflict the members of a Southern family and that culminate in the suicide of the beautiful Peyton Loftis."

"I want to play Peyton more than anything I can possibly taste or touch in my life. I want to play her so bad," Stewart told Elle magazine. "They're the most [bleeped]-up family. There's a script adaptation…and it's good. Two people vying for the part [of the father] are Daniel Day-Lewis and Colin Firth. Daniel would be perfect."
"I am obsessed with that part," Lawrence told W magazine. "I have this feeling of protectiveness over characters I want to play… If someone else gets the part, I'm afraid they won't do it right. I'm trying to write the director…to convince him that I should be in his move. I'll chase him if I have to. I'll sit outside his house."
Fans are split down the middle as to who should end up with the part.
