Kristin Chenoweth Ready to Kick off Concert Tour
Kristin Chenoweth, the star from the upcoming ABC series "GCB" (Good Christian Belles) is currently undergoing preparations to kick off her first ever concert tour on May 9 in Seattle.
"I've sung all over the place but I've never committed to a tour because of my schedule," said Chenoweth to the Associated Press. "So now I'm finally doing it."
The 43-year-old singer/actress will embark on a 19-city North American tour that will hit major areas such as Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Boston, Dallas, Toronto, New York, Nashville and Atlanta along with some other cities.
The tour will finish out in Chenoweth's hometown Broken Arrow, Okla., where she grew up. She will headline the concert at the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center that is set to be renamed in her honor.
"For me, it will be very emotional," she said.
The Arts Center's Executive Director Mark Frie stated that Broken Arrow has been looking for a way to honor Chenoweth since the facilities grand opening three years ago. "We're excited to welcome her home," he said.
Chenoweth plans to fill her set with some familiar tunes including songs from her latest country inspired album titled "Some Lessons Learned." She will also perform songs from the TV show "Glee" as well as others from her Broadway shows such as "Popular" and "Wicked."
"If I don't do 'Popular,' I will go out on a stretcher. I know that," said Chenoweth. "I've accepted it, and you know what? I'm thankful for it. I'm glad I have songs that I'm known for."
Chenoweth also plans to sing a few opera tunes and other less known songs such as "Glitter and Be Gay," "The Girl in 14G," and "Taylor the Latte Boy."
The concert will feature back-up singers, dancers and choreography. Tickets will go on sale March 9.
