Krystle Campbell Funeral: Boston Marathon Bombing Victim Mourned
Krystle Campbell is being mourned and honored by hundreds of mourners as her funeral takes place in Boston today.
On Sunday, about 1,000 mourners attended Campbell's wake in the Boston suburb of Medford, according to Boston.com. Among the attendees were several of the region's political leaders.
Family and friends of the 29-year-old restaurant manager gathered in the suburb on Monday in order to offer their final respects to Campbell.
The ceremony started at 11 a.m. EST at the St. Joseph Church, located in the same town where Campbell graduated high school in 2001, according to reports.
Campbell will be buried in Medford's Oak Grove Cemetery, according to The Boston Herald.
Campbell was killed just one week ago during the Boston Marathon bombings that also claimed the lives of two others and injured 219 more. 8-year-old Martin Richard and 23-year-old Lu Lingzi were also fatally wounded during the April 15 attacks.
Among those affected by the bombs were hundreds of people who lost legs or other limbs from shrapnel that the bomb makers used inside the explosives, according to officials.
Meanwhile, law officials have alleged that two brothers, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, are responsible for the two bombs as well as the murder of a MIT police officer.
Tamlerlan was killed during a firefight with police, but Dzhokhar was captured after a massive manhunt and remains hospitalized in Boston.
In light of last week's tragedy in Boston, people from all over the world are sending messages of love and support to the American city.
Native to Boston, Ben Affleck took to Twitter as news of the bombings swept news outlets.
"Such a senseless and tragic day," wrote the "Argo" director. "My family and I send our love to our beloved and resilient Boston."
Gisele Bundchen, whose husband Tom Brady plays for NFL's New England Patriots, also posted a message to those in Boston.
"My love and prayers to everyone in Boston," wrote the supermodel.
Despite not being on Twitter, Bradley Cooper also showed support for the saddened city. The "Silver Linings Playbook" star joined New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman on a visit to the Boston Medical Center.
There, the pair visited Jeffrey Bauman Jr., a man who lost both of his legs during the explosions on April 15.
