'Kung Fu Panda 3' news: Teaser inspired by 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

A new teaser for the upcoming animated film "Kung Fu Panda 3" was released.

It was reported that the teaser was inspired by the upcoming film of J.J. Abrams, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." The teaser is titled "The Father Rises," which features the father of Po named Li, voiced by Bryan Cranston. It shows him climbing a set of stairs, getting tired as he reaches the top. When he sees Po, he says, "I am your father," and then continues to breathe like the sound of Darth Vader.

The upcoming film will explore the father and son relationship of the two pandas, after a long overdue reunion. The synopsis of the film stated, , "When Po's long-lost panda father suddenly reappears, the reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters. But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the Kung Fu masters, Po must do the impossible — learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas."

Together, they will encounter a villain named Kai, who will be voiced by J.K. Simmons. Previous reports showed J.K. Simmons relating the animated character to his role in the hit film "Whiplash." The animation of the film will present a visually striking Panda Village based on Sichuan China. It was reported by Entertainment Weekly that the production designer Raymon Zibach went on a trip to China to find inspiration for the film.

Kung Fu Panda 3 will feature the voices of of Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross, James Hong, Bryan Cranston, Rebel Wilson, and J. K. Simmons under the direction of Jennifer Yuh Nelson and Alessandro Carloni. The screenplay was written by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger.
