Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick Tell Letterman How They are Spouses and Cousins
Kyra Sedgwick recalled her anxiety of finding out that she was related to Hollywood actor husband Kevin Bacon on the Late Show with David Letterman this week.
On Letterman Sedgwick told the host of her recent discovery that she and husband Kevin Bacon are more than just man and wife; they are cousins.
It was revealed that Sedgwick and Bacon are 10th cousins once removed.
“It was a little upsetting, I’m not gonna lie,” she told Letterman.
Sedgwick had appeared on “Faces of America” with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. series on PBS, which uses genealogical research and full genome sequencing to find the ancestry of Americans. The show also revealed that Sedgwick is related to Marilyn Monroe as well as former presidents Jimmy Carter and Richard Nixon.
Sedgwick, from TNT TV series "The Closer" told Letterman: “You know, it’s amazing, because you learn so much. [Gates] went 200 years back on my mother’s side and 200 years back on my father’s side. And I just found out things I didn’t know at all.”
Letterman expressed his cynicism on genealogy, “I would go on there, and I bet you I would be related to those people.”
Sedgwick and Bacon have been married 22 years and Sedgwick’s final premier of "The Closer" attracted 7.2 million viewers this week. Despite winning an Emmy last year, Sedgwick was not nominated for an award this year.
