Kyron Horman Search 'Successful,' Mother Claims
Kyron Horman disappeared in 2010, but his mother led teams of volunteers on a new search for the now 10-year-old boy from Oregon. His mother, Desiree Young, called the search "successful" and said they possibly found new evidence in the case.
"I think that this weekend's search did a great deal," Young told reporters. "A lot of this information has to go to law enforcement, but I can say that it was successful. We took quite a lot of time to plan and execute this search. It was two days of solid searching. We found a lot of things, and possibly evidence."
Kyron was last seen at his school Skyline Elementary, when his stepmother, Terri Horman, dropped him off. His mother, Desiree Young, initially filed a civil suit against Terry, alleging that she was involved in Kyron's disappearance. Kaine Horman, Kyron's father, divorced Terry and said he also believed that she was involved.
"I hope that I am wrong, but I fear that he is gone forever," Young said in 2010. "I believe that Terri Horman knows where Kyron is. I believe that Terri Horman is responsible for where my son is. The time has come for Terri to take responsibility for what she has done and to tell me and my family where Kyron is and how he got there," Young told CNN.
No charges were brought against Terry Horman, and no suspect has been officially named. Young dropped the suit, saying that it was interfering with the authorities' efforts to find Kyron.
"I just want to rule out all areas (that) I can and search every area possible," Young said. "We're not going to find Kyron if we're not searching."
The search this weekend covered areas near the Northwest Portland Skyline School where the boy was last seen. Ten dog teams from across the nation joined in the search, but it was unknown what led Young to put together the search effort three years after her son's disappearance.
"My mission has always been to bring Kyron home, and I will go to the ends of the earth to do that," Young said.
