LA Galaxy MLS Transfer Rumors: Galaxy Extends Offer to Zlatan Ibrahimović

Zlatan Ibrahimović may be 35 right now (36 in October), but he has shown no signs of slowing down. He's still one of the sport's most polarizing figures and he continues to impress fans and pundits with his consistency in scoring goals everywhere he goes.

In fact, Ibrahimović has played and dominated in just about every major league in Europe during his career. He has already won 13 league titles with Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, A.C. Milan and Paris Saint-Germain F.C. The chances of Manchester United winning the Premier League title this season may be slim, but he has been one of their best players this season, scoring 26 goals in all competitions. Now imagine a player of his caliber playing in the Major League Soccer (MLS). How amazing would that be?

Citing multiple sources, Sports Illustrated's Grant Wahl has reported that the LA Galaxy have reached out and extended a contract offer to Ibrahimović. The deal would bring the Swedish striker to the club this summer and it would make him the highest-paid player in MLS history. ESPN FC has also confirmed that the Galaxy have indeed contacted Ibrahimović.

Will Ibrahimović really say goodbye to Europe and move to the United States to play with the Galaxy?

In an interview with BBC Radio Five Live, former Galaxy general manager Alexi Lalas said a move was definitely possible and it would make sense for Ibrahimović.

"The pitch to Zlatan Ibrahimović is not just that you get to come to Major League Soccer and they will pay you a lot of money. It is also that you get to expand that brand in a market that continues to get bigger and bigger," Lalas said during the interview. "I think they do have a chance [of signing Ibrahimović]. Whether it's this summer or maybe a year from now I still think there is going to be an interest," he continued.

American fans want to see him play in the MLS and the players also think he's going to be good for the league. It would be huge for the MLS if they could get Ibrahimović.
