LA Galaxy Transfer Rumors: Alan Gordon Re-Signs with the Five-Time MLS Champs
After exploring all his options as a free agent, U.S. soccer star forward Alan Gordon finally decided it was in his best interest to re-sign with the club he played for quite a long time, the LA Galaxy.
He recently announced that he will be returning to the MLS club after testing free agency, though there was no further explanation or details given. The announcement was made on Friday via the player's Instagram account.
Gordon is one of the most recognizable names in U.S. soccer, with the reputation of being the best late-game performer. He actually played for the San Jose Earthquakes during his early years in the league, but he eventually carved out success as a member of the LA Galaxy. He was traded by his original club back in 2014. So far, he appeared in 43 games with 12 starts.
Gordon made his mark with team USA during the time he was called up for the knockout stages of the Gold Cup back in July. Coach Jurgen Klinsman thought he could have been a great addition. After that, he had the honor of playing in the teams' World Cup qualifying opening tournament back in November.
The LA Galaxy is without a doubt the most popular team in the MLS and it also is the team with the most interesting history. The professional soccer franchise calls Carson in California its home. Its history is highlighted by five MLS Cup titles, along with a CONCACAF tournament title. Aside from signing English football star David Beckham, the team also signed big European names in the past, including Giovani dos Santos, Steven Gerrard, and Robbie Keane. Another prominent player who had a stint with the Galaxy is American star Landon Donovan.
In the current roster, Gordon will be competing time with starting forwards and veterans Robbie Keane, Giovani dos Santos, and Gyasi Zardes.
