LA Galaxy vs Juventus takes place in the International Champions Cup 2013 soccer tournament, with both teams hoping to record their first win in the competition to date. Juventus will be big favorites for this match, but LA Galaxy have home advantage and will be looking to upset the Italian giants. Both Galaxy and Juventus lost their opening round games, and with those loses both immediately lost all hope of winning the title. Instead both teams fall into the consolation bracket.
However, the winner will go into the 5th place play off in the tournament, where as the losers of tonight's game will drop into the 7th place play off which is simply a match between the bottom two teams of the competition trying to avoid the unwanted accolade of coming bottom in the tournament.
The Galaxy lost to Real Madrid in their first game, and although the match finished 3-1, the MLS side was only a goal behind going into the final 20 minutes before Karim Benzema scored to put the match out of reach.
Meanwhile, Juventus lost to English Premier League side Everton in one of the shocks of the round. Juventus were able to equalize late on in the game to look like they were going to steal the win, but it was Everton who came through the penalty shootout in the end 6-5. That meant Everton went through to the competition's semi-finals and Juventus came through to the consolation part of the tournament instead.
However, this match should be a good one, and is between the reigning USA and Italian domestic champions – and in fact these two teams are the only two true domestic champions representing their countries in this tournament.
