Lady Antebellum's Scott Testifies Engagement a 'Blessing From God'
Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott became engaged over the holiday weekend. Longtime boyfriend Chris Tyrell proposed after they had taken a hike in East Tennessee, near Scott’s home town.
Scott exclaimed: "We feel so blessed by God that He sent us each other, and we are looking so forward to forever together!"
The happy couple met in 2010 while both working for Tim McGraw’s tour.
Winner of 5 Grammy Awards this year including Best Song of the Year with “Need You Now”, Lady Antebellum consists of Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood.
The trio are all Christians, and Haywood attributes his career to his youth choir group, Love Unlimited, at the Trinity-On-The-Hill United Methodist Church in Augusta, Georgia.
“Chris proposed exactly the way I’ve always dreamed,” the singer told People. “Our families were close by, but it was just us out on a beautiful deck overlooking a lake in East Tennessee. We had just been on a hike and – in our workout clothes – he hit the knee!”
It was after a family Christmas show at Opryland while Scott was in high school that she became certain she should pursue a career in music.
Scott is a graduate of Donelson Christian Academy, and has won Society of European Stage Authors and Composers Songwriter of the Year award twice.
Lady Antebellum’s new album, Own The Night will be released on September 13, 2011.
