Lady Gaga, A-Rod Meet in New York: Yankee Comforts Singer Over Hip Surgery (VIDEO)
Lady Gaga and A-Rod have hit headlines this week after the New York Yankee baseball player offered some comfort and reassurance to the pop singer about her hip surgery.
Alex Rodriguez is currently recovering from the same surgery as Gaga had on Wednesday, and the pair apparently share the same surgeon.
Gaga needed the surgery to help her with a hip problem that forced her to cancel the remaining dates of her world tour. The injury proved disastrous for Gaga as the canceled concerts reportedly resulted in about $30 million in refunds having to be handed back.
Dr Bryan Kelly from the New York Hospital for Special Surgery was Gaga's surgeon, according to the New York Post, and he is also the specialist who previously performed surgery on the Yankee star.
According to the NY Post, both A-Rod and Lady Gaga were spotted arriving at the same time at the doctor's Manhattan offices this week.
A source "close to" Gaga has told the NY Post: "Alex was at Dr. Kelly's office for a follow-up, while Gaga was preparing for surgery. It's natural for anyone to be nervous ahead of this type of surgery, especially as a performer or athlete under tremendous pressure to make a quick recovery and be back at peak performance . . . Gaga was anxious, but Alex talked to her for a while and was able to reassure her."
Previously Gaga had revealed to her fans that she had been suffering from pain from her hip injury for some time. She posted online: "I've been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for sometime now."
She also said that the injury was getting so bad that she was unable to walk well.
It is reported that Gaga had to cancel 22 dates remaining on her Born This Way Ball world tour, which was supposed to run through to March 20.
The surgery recovery time is significant and Gaga is thought to be sideline for some time. A-Rod also, who had the surgery on Jan. 16, is not expected to be back in action for the Yankees until midseason.
