Lady Gaga and Julian Assange Visit: 5 Hours With WikiLeaks Founder (PHOTO)
Lady Gaga made a visit to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange on Monday while in London to launch her new perfume labeled "Fame."
While promoting her brand in London, Lady Gaga decided to stop by the Ecuadorian embassy to pay Julian Assange a visit. Assange has been seeking asylum in Ecuador for months now following an investigation that began in 2010 concerning sexual assault allegations.
While Gaga did not state the reason for her visit, she did appear to have received an invite from MIA, who suggested that she would bring tea and cake if Gaga agreed to meet up with her at the embassy.
"if ur at harrods today , come visit Assange at the Ecuador embassy across the st. im there. ill bring TEA and CAKE," the rapper said on Lady Gaga's Twitter wall.
Lady Gaga was then pictured leaving the embassy on Monday, although MIA was nowhere in sight, according to reports. Gaga also posted a low-quality photo of herself alongside Assange on her Twitter with the caption "No Headline."
Assange is seen wearing a simple white t-shirt. Despite the fact that he is standing next to one of the world's most powerful pop stars, he doesn't appear to be smiling at all. Gaga on the other hand, is dressed in all black and wearing a wide brimmed hat. She offered the camera a toothy grin.
According to English publications, Gaga stayed with Assange for approximately five hours before departing.
Assange is currently fighting U.K. efforts to send him to Sweden, fearing he may be extradited to the U.S. In the U.S., Assange could be forced to face trial for WikiLeaks, which is allegedly responsible for leaking a number of U.S. military and diplomatic documents.
In September, the U.S. Defense Department formally declared WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange an enemy on par with al-Qaida, according to documents obtained by an Australian newspaper.
