Lady Gaga to Open VMA's 2013, Fans Celebrate

Lady Gaga is scheduled to open this year's MTV Video Music Awards with a track from her new album "ARTPOP" on Sunday.

The VMA's will arrive on the heels of Gaga's new music video for "Applause," which debuted on Monday.

Although "Applause" is not nominated for a Video Music Award, Gaga is sure to deliver a jaw-dropping opening performance. The "Allejandro" singer has delivered memorable performances at MTV's awards show before, including 2010's "Papparazzi" that saw her covered in blood.

Gaga joins dozens of other top performers slated to take the stage during the VMA's, including Bruno Mars, Miley Cyrus, Macklemore, and many others.

Furthermore, the former boy band N'Sync is rumored to be planning a reunion at the VMA's this year, according to Billboard.

The VMA's would mark the band's first televised performance together since 2003, and the reunion would commemorate N'Sync's Justin Timblerlake, who is being honored on Sunday with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

As for nominees at MTV's 2013 VMA's, Justin Timberlake and Macklemore are in the lead with six nominations each; Timberlake had the year's best-selling album with "The 20/20 Experience" while Macklemore & Ryan Lewis had 2013's best-selling single, "Thrift Shop."

Other leading nominees for the 2013 VMA's included Bruno Mars who earned four nods and Robin Thicke with three nominations.

Pink, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Miley Cyrus also picked up three nominations apiece.

Taylor Swift, Drake, Calvin Harris and Fun are also among the most-nominated artists this year.

The coveted Best Female Video Award will be chosen among nominees Rihanna, Cyrus, Swift, Pink and Demi Lavoto.

British singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran picked up a nomination for Best Male Video with his song "Lego House." Fellow Brits Alt-J and Mumford & Sons also picked up nominations this year.

The 2013 MTV VMA's will take place live from Brooklyn, New York's Barclay Center on Aug. 25 at 9 p.m. EST. It is the first time the event will take place in the city's famed borough.
