Lady Gaga Tweets Revealing Photo to Combat Eating Disorders

Lady Gaga has taken a firm stance against eating disorders by posting a photo of herself in underwear on Twitter Tuesday.

Known by fans as "Mother Monster," Gaga launched a page on her Little Monsters website called A Body Revolution 2013 that encourages fans to accept their flaws and share their stories.

"Join A BODY REVOLUTION," the singer wrote on Twitter, and added the caption, "Bulimia and anorexia since I was 15," to a photo of herself standing with her eyes shut in undergarments.

Gaga added other pictures that also revealed her fuller figure, writing captions such as, "But today I joined the BODY REVOLUTION," and "inspire bravery."

The Twitter posts could be a part of Gaga's response to criticism over her weight gain. Speaking to radio host Elvis Duran recently, the 26-year-old explained that she was watching what she was eating.

"I'm dieting right now because I gained, like, 25 pounds," said the "Bad Romance" singer. "I really don't feel bad about it, not even for a second. I have to be on such a strict diet constantly. It's hard because it's a quite vigorous show, so I tend to bulk up, get muscular, and I really don't like that. So I'm trying to find a new balance."

The radio interview was not the first time Gaga's weight was discussed. Over the summer, the singer's friend Sir Elton John commented on Gaga's weight.

"I look at Gaga and I think, 'How does she do it,'" the 65-year-old singer said to The Guardian U.K.

The "Tiny Dancer" singer and Gaga have been friends for years, and she is godmother to John's young son Zachary. The British singer admitted that Gaga's parents harbor concern about whether their daughter takes care of herself while on the road on tour.

"I call to her mum and dad about it," he said. "They worry."

"She is frail," John continued. "And she doesn't eat when she should, and she's a girl, and it's tougher for a girl."
