Lady Gaga's Old NYC Apartment Available for Rent

Pop Star Lady Gaga’s old New York City apartment was recently put up for rent.

Before the singer reached superstardom, she lived at the Lower East Side apartment. Gaga’s father agreed to pay her rent after she moved out of her plush Upper West Side childhood home.

She lived in the apartment for three years while struggling to make a name for herself in the music industry.

“It was like I had to go lick the ground for a few years to understand New York City and a whole different side of the pavement,” said Gaga to MTV about the apartment. “I wanted to live alone live in solitude with my music. I wanted to read poetry and be overly dramatic about everything and that's what I did.”

Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, paid $1,100 a month for the apartment that boasts French doors, a marble bath and a basic kitchen.

“Former abode of the infamous Lady Gaga-legitimately!” reads the Citi Habitats website listing for the apartment located at 176 Stanton Street.

Lady Gaga’s former one-bedroom apartment is on the third floor and is available for $1,850 a month.

Growing up in the neighborhood near Lincoln Center, Gaga credited the Lower East Side with helping her to come out of her shell.

This Thanksgiving the “Born This Way” hit maker will have her own ABC special "A Very Gaga Thanksgiving."

The 90-minute primetime special, which was conceived and created by the 25-year-old singer, will feature Gaga performing eight songs in front of a small crowd of friends and family.

The Thanksgiving special will also feature a sit down interview with veteran anchor Katie Couric.

“Katie Couric sits down with the icon in her alma-mater, Sacred Heart Catholic School in Manhattan, as the two discuss the meaning and inspiration behind some of Gaga's biggest hits,” said a statement released by ABC Network.

“Gaga also opens up about her relationships with family and friends and shares heartfelt stories from her past, as well as what her life is like now living in the public eye,” the statement continued.
