Lamar Odom's Ex-Wife Opens Up About Death of Their Baby
Liza Morales, the ex-wife of Los Angeles Clippers' forward Lamar Odom who is currently married to reality television star Khloe Kardashian, is opening up about her relationship with the NBA star and dealing with the loss of one of their children seven years ago.
In an interview with Mommy's Dirty Little Secrets, Morales opened up about losing her third child with Odom after only six months of living with him. The child died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome which is often unexplained by doctors.
"I have a 12-year-old daughter, Destiny, and 9-year-old son, Lamar Jr. and I also had a third child, Jayden, who died," Morales admitted. "Jayden was born Dec. 15, 2005 and died of SIDS at six months. My mother and I found him in the crib."
Morales said she did not know anyone else who had experienced SIDS, so coping with the loss of her baby was hard on her and then-husband Odom.
"I would say that I had never lost anyone in my life until Jayden. For Lamar – he had experienced loss, losing his Mom," Morales told Mommy's Dirty Little Secret. "The loss was traumatic for both of us. We just dealt with it in different ways."
Morales said she leaned on her faith to get her through the ordeal.
"I had to depend on my spirituality. Things happen for a reason and I went through it alone for a reason," she said. "Its not the type of loss to share with just anybody. Most people can't relate and thank God."
Odom's ex-wife said the basketball player found other ways to cope with the loss.
"Lamar turned to work. He had his music he was working on, clothing company and an artist he was working with – that's how he dealt," she revealed. "I was alone during that time, but at least I had my family and friends. The lost never leaves you, but it does get better... we are in a place of peace and acceptance."
