Larry Bird's Son Arrested for Allegedly Trying to Run Over Girlfriend Twice
Larry Bird's son has been arrested after allegedly attempting to run over his girlfriend. Connor Bird faces preliminary charges of battery with injury, criminal mischief, intimidation with a deadly weapon and possession of marijuana. No formal charges have been filed yet.
Bird and his ex-girlfriend got into a dispute and he threw a cell phone at her, according to Police Chief Keith Cash. The couple then went to a parking lot in order to discuss things but the argument only intensified; they were in the same vehicle when the young woman, apparently frustrated, got out of the vehicle.
She wanted to walk home instead of remaining with Bird.

That's when Bird allegedly sped up and attempted to run her over not once, but twice. Thankfully she was not seriously hurt; a student at Indiana University witnessed the event, then took her to the police department.
Bird's attorney, as well as his father, has not spoken about the event or what may come in the future.
"This is a very private matter that we're going to try to resolve quickly. We're thankful that no one was seriously injured," John L. Tompkins told the Indianapolis Star.
Larry Bird is, of course, a Hall of Fame NBA player who spent his life playing the game he loved. He is the only player to ever be named Most Valuable Player, Coach of the Year, and Executive of the Year. He is a legend throughout the basketball community and popular culture. In fact, the Twitter logo bird is named "Larry" in his honor.
Bird married his high school sweetheart, Janet Condra, in 1975 but the couple soon ran into problems. They divorced within two years and had daughter Corrie in 1977. He married Dinah Mattingly in 1989 and the two adopted son Connor and daughter Mariah.
Formal charges are expected later this week, but until then, everyone involved with the case is remaining silent.
