Latest Celebrity Viral Trend: Stars Raise Awareness for Veteran Suicide; What is the 22 Push-Up Challenge?

Hollywood Celebrities Are Taking Part in the Challenge

Just like the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, the 22 Push-up Challenge has gone viral and Hollywood celebrities are even taking part in it.

The new viral challenge doesn't involve buckets of ice, instead, the goal is to film yourself doing 22 push-ups and nominate another person to pass the challenge on. The 22 Push-up Challenge aims to raise awareness for the 22 US veterans who commit suicide everyday.

22 Push-Up Challenge Initiative, Details
Fox News reports that the 22 came from the estimated number of suicides everyday based on the 2012 Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) report from 1999 to 2011. It is not known how many veterans commit suicide every day, but the daily estimate is in the 20s and up.

The 22 Push-up Challenge was launched by an awareness group called #22KILL. The initiative was to raise awareness on social media, but it does not ask for donations unlike the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. According to the group, the goal is to make 22 million push-ups to give honor and raise awareness on veteran suicides and the prevention of it.

How to do the 22 Push-Up Challenge
To participate, an introduction must first be filmed before doing the push-ups. It should state the name of the participant, why they are partaking in the challenge and who they are dedicating it for. Afterwards, the video should be posted on social media which includes Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and more. It should contain the hashtags #22KILL and #22Pushups.

The group recommends to do the challenge as long or as many as the participants like. It is also recommended to do group push-ups and be creative with the challenge as well.

Stars and Hollywood Celebrities Take Part in the Push-Up Challenge
While most internet trends pass by, the 22 Push-up Challenge is heavily participated by celebrities and Hollywood stars just like the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in the past. Mashable notes that notable celebrities have taken part in it including Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Anna Faris, Chris Pratt, John Krasinki, Chris Evans and more.

These celebrities have posted their videos on their social media accounts and have tagged or nominated other celebrities as well. The challenge is expected to become more popular in the next few days as it has created a buzz online.
