Laura Dern Divorce Back On Again
Actress Laura Dern has decided again to divorce husband Ben Harper over the weekend after briefly reconciling.
The "Enlightened" star filed legal papers to reactivate her dormant divorce on Friday, according to TMZ. Harper had petitioned for a divorce in L.A. Superior Court two years earlier, reportedly blindsiding his wife of over five years.
In her her formal legal response to Harper's divorce petition, Dern is asking for primary physical custody of the couple's two kids and joint legal custody. She is also seeking spousal support, child support, and attorney fees.
The couple married on Dec. 23, 2005 after dating for five years.
Although they couple's relationship was on the rocks in 2010, Dern and Harper's divorce was never finalized, and earlier this year, they were attempting to reconcile.
Moreover, they attended the Golden Globes together in 2010 when Dern won Best Actress for her role in HBO's "Enlightened."
According to a source close to the couple, working things out was "very rocky," and Dern is ready to call it quits, reported TMZ.
Harper and Dern share two children, son Ellery, 10, and daughter Jaya, 7 together. In addition to their own, Dern is also reportedly the main caregiver to Harper's two children from a previous relationship.
Best known for songs "Steal My Kisses" and "Never Tear Us Apart," Harper is a 2-time Grammy Award winner. He plays an eclectic mix of blues, folk, soul, reggae, and rock music with instruments including several kids of guitar. Harper's fan base extends across the globe.
Dern's credits include movies "Meet the Fockers" and "Jurassic Park," among many others. She also won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris in the 2008 television film "Recount."
