Lauren Bush and David Lauren to Say Vows in Western Style Wedding
Fashion designer and model Lauren Bush will be marrying Ralph Lauren's vice president David Lauren in a lavish Western style wedding this weekend.
Considered "American royalty," Bush is the niece and granddaughter of former presidents George W. Bush and George H. W. Bush, respectively, and Lauren is the son of fashion designer Ralph Lauren.
The guest list of 200 includes David’s sister, Dylan Lauren, and Lauren’s father, Neil Bush. Bush's grandparents George H.W. and Barbara Bush are unable to attend the wedding due to the high Colorado altitude being a health threat to them. It has not been confirmed whether George W. and wife Laura Bush will attend.
An entire weekend of festivities is planned around the wedding in Telluride, Colorado, including a picnic and softball game on Saturday, a rehearsal dinner Saturday night and a rodeo on Monday.
The main event however will take place on Sunday at the Lauren family's 17000-acre Double RL Ranch in the Rocky Mountains. The private ranch is famous for filming location for scenes of the John Wayne classic "True Grit."
The dress code has been described as black tie with a Western twist, paying homage to the couple's American roots.
Host Ralph Lauren recently told Oprah that he admires old West culture.
“I’m not a cowboy and don’t pretend to be one, but I love the West,” he said.
Bush, whose wedding dress has been designed by Ralph Lauren, says that she plans to take her husband's last name.
“I think it will be Lauren Bush-Lauren. I am sort of old-fashioned in that way,” the bride-to-be told Harper's Bazaar.
